About the role:

This role is within Advanced Operations, which is part of the Global Operations and Quality function, working on projects leading to the introduction of new equipment for our new product pipeline.

As a Project Engineer you will be ensuring new products are manufacturable to high volume production, whilst developing and applying advanced automation and manufacturing capabilities.

Your key duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Automation (DFA) inputs to the R&D and process development teams throughout the product design cycle
  • Recommending managing and performing Automation proof of principle work and process design experiments alongside internal project team members, and with vendors
  • Production of high-level process maps for high volume production processes
  • Support the Advanced operations technical lead, working closely with Manufacturing and R&D to build URS and determine suitable technology/equipment with external vendors, as well as with vendor evaluation and tender
  • Support the Advanced operations technical lead with design reviews at equipment vendors, conduct thorough field testing, including Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), loop testing, and hands-on work in production environments
  • Responsibilities during machine integration, calibration and determining operating windows for new products
  • Input into equipment and process validation strategies, support on the line through equipment installation and validation, writing of instructions, protocols/reports as required
  • Establish and maintain the technical documentation throughout the project that is required to deliver and install equipment, and support  hand over/training to local site engineering/manufacturing
  • Support with troubleshooting and resolve of technical issues related to hardware components and software, ensuring reliable line performance
  • Ensure all equipment & systems are planned for and integrated, meeting the company’s requirements for production plant installation and IT infrastructure

 

About you:

  • Preferably at least 1.5 – 3 years of relevant work experience as an engineer in same/similar industry or suitable for fresh graduate with strong technical focus
  • Knowledge and experience in operations, manufacturing, or engineering environment is essential
  • Experience managing equipment, technology and material suppliers
  • Experience working with cross functional and global teams
  • Must be proficient with PC programs  i.e. Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)

 

Preferred (not required):

  • Statistical tools like Minitab or Jump
  • Project Mgmt (Microsoft Project, etc.)
  • Familiarity with CAD, electrical and mechanical systems
  • Familiarity with equipment and process validation and capability studies
  • Familiarity with process FMEA, quality control, working with standard operating procedures
  • Strong problem-solving skills and effective troubleshooting abilities
  • Practical Lean and/or Six Sigma experience, defect analysis

 

Education / Qualifications:

  • Education at university level in engineering or scientific discipline
  • Communicative level of English language
  • The position could be suitable for a fresh graduate with strong technical focus
